This was my first try to make a jam of the rose petals. My mom is really good in making jams especially in aubergine, quince, strawberry, figs etc.
Yesterday we went to the garden to pick some fresh vegetables.
When we saw the rose we decided to make jam of it, to try it out.
After we came home a let them sit in the bag for today and because they were wet (from the rain) so they started to change color. I threw away the discolored ones.
This is how they look like
What you need:
440 gram Rose petals
1 kilogram sugar
800 gram water
First you add from the 1 kg sugar 3 handful to the rose petals and 1 lemon juice and you mix it with your hand till you can squish the rose juice out a little bit. Then let it sit for 10 min.
Meanwhile you cook the rest of the sugar and water.
When it starts boiling cook it for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes add the rose petals all in. Cook it for 50-60 minutes. The last minute add the other lemon juice.
After it’s done cooking put the hot pan in cold water to cool it down a bit so it stops overcooking and that helps with keeping the color nice.
It turned out red while it was pink :)). Of Course you can make it with red or white rose.
It turned out really amazing.
